ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Zoology Department is one of the departments of Vaishnavi Mahavidyalaya, Wadwani. The department of zoology was founded in 2008 and offers undergraduate-level academic programmes. Through the sharing of knowledge, our committed Faculty has worked tirelessly over the past years to uplift, educate, and empower the students and their families. Students’ successes and overall development give us confidence that their efforts were worthwhile.
Department of Zoology has always been source of knowledge and continuously being igniting the scientific temperament in students. The Department deals with wide variety of subject’s variety from classical zoology (Chordata and Non-Chordata) to modern sophisticated subjects such as Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Cell Biology and Evolutionary Biology, Immunology.
The Department has broadened its research and teaching to address both contemporary advancements and the requirements of the local population. The department’s employees have number of research articles published in various national and international journals. Since from 2021-2022, the department has offered a certificate programme on“HIV/AIDS Infection, Discrimination and Preventive Awareness”. Dr. Gulbhile S. D., Department of Zoology has organised a National-LevelWebinar, on “Use of Modern Technology in Daily Teaching- The Need of the Our” with the presence of 2121participants on dated 29/05/2020.
The department’s staff members also took part in numerous seminars, workshops, and conferences. The department actively arranges field trips and educational excursions for student development. At the moment, the department is making major contributions to research in the various fields.

- To expose students to the field of Zoology through the applied braches of Zoology.
- To motivate students for laboratory research, research projects and participate in research competitions like VidyanSpardha, Spandhan, Avishkar.
- To promote students to create self-study material for deeply study, boosting confidence and developing communication skill.
- To provide guidance for further study/post-graduation in the subject, this is helpful for finding job opportunities.

SCOPE OF ZOOLOGY
The area of zoology offers numerous opportunities for research. Studying zoology equipped you with in-depth knowledge in fields including ecology, conservation, and etiology—the study of animal behaviour—as well as animal biology—particularly physiology, molecular biology, and genetics. You will gain practical experience with current laboratory and field research procedures in addition to this subject-specific knowledge, offering you a variety of technical skills.
FUTURE PERSPECTIVE
- The department will be providing modern facilities for studying fishes, terrestrial insects, birds, and aquatic invertebrates.
- Department also want to develop good Research laboratory facilities for analysis of biological materials, molecular genetics and other advanced applied fields of Zoology.
