ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The department of Microbiology was started in 2008.The department offers an Undergraduate course BSc. Microbiology. The department has well-equipped laboratories with all the necessary facilities to nurture students knowledge hunger and to make them competitive in the research world. Teachers perform research work in the labs and often publish their works in reputed journals. Department providing a good research laboratory facility & contributing with knowledgeable aspects. Through the department various activities are being conducted like Social Awareness Activities (Aids Awareness Program) and Birth Anniversary of Scientist etc. Department is organizing different industrial/Field visits every year for providing an insight into the real working environment of the industry, develop the leadership, communication& socialization quality of the students. And establish a good relationship between the industry & academia.
The Head of the department Mr. M. B. Solanke has been serving the department since 2014 and has developed special skills among students making an interest in the subject more becoming competitive for the outside world. Other faculties include Mr. L. N. Chavan who are contributing to the department.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
- To impart basic education in Microbiology.
- To develop experimental skills of the students in the subjects.
- To develop scientific temperament.
- To prepare the students for admission to higher studies.
- To prepare the students for employments in small scale industries.
- To motivate the students for self-employment.
- To prepare students for civil service examination and other competitive exams.
VISION
- The department of microbiology aims to provide leading educationand innovative research expertise in all fields of microbiology.
- It emphasizes to find solutions to many of our global challenges, such as antimicrobial resistance, emergence of new infectious diseases, and the health of our ecosystems.
- The department works to develop students in advanced studies, entrepreneurship and applying new ideas and technologies in biological sciences.
- The department provides an opportunity for hands-on training in various practically applied aspects of the microbiology like analysis of clinical samples, isolation and identification of microorganisms, their cultivation, preservation, molecular techniques, sterilization etc.
MISSION
- To provide conceptual learning and unique depth in practical aspects of microbiology.
- To prepare students for applying new ideas and technologies in microbiology.
- To work on developing knowledge in basic laboratory skills, ethical thinking, quantitative skills and its application to deal with biological issues in society.

Perspective Plan
