About the department:

            Department of Botany of Vaishnavi Mahavidyalaya, Wadwani has established in the year 2009 with Botany as an Optional Subject and running academic programs at UG level. It is one of the leading department dedicated to teaching and research. The department runs F.Y., S.Y. and T.Y. Botany with six Semesters. Program provide basic knowledge of the living world, plant diversity and evolutionary trends of flowering and non-flowering plants, cell biology, genetics, plant physiology, plant taxonomy and plant ecology during the three years program. This department actively imparting the knowledge about subject and awareness among them about the environment related issues.

            Department of botany actively organizes different activities like seminar, webinar, group discussions program, guest lectures and tree plantation drive every year. Department also conduct 6 days short remedial course for the slow learners at the start of first semester

  • To develop interest among the students towards the subject of botany and understand them role plants in nature and ecosystem.

Mission:

  • To offer wide and relevant education to the students with view of shaping their environmental awareness and to uplift the students capable challenges in life efficiently and carve their own future.

Goal:

  • To impart quality education in the fields of botany to make the students acquire an in-deep knowledge relevant to local, regional and national needs.

Aims and objectives:

  • To provide knowledge about utilization of natural resources.
  • To create the awareness of life saving herbal drugs.
  • To attract students towards botany.
  • To encourage Botany outreach to the local community.
  • To create scientific awareness towards protecting biodiversity

Scope of the subject:

  • Students after graduation can find a lot of career opportunities in both public sectors and private sectors
  • After completing graduation, students can appear for various competitive  examinations like Indian forest services, Indian administrative services conducted by UPSC/MPSC.
  • Students can also go for higher education courses like M.Sc. in Botany, Biotechnology etc.
  • Students can obtain specializations in plant breeding, plant pathology, agronomy and horticulture
  • Teaching field of botany is very challenging and rewarding career opportunity for botany students.
  • Students can also choose fields like ecologist, taxonomist, conservationist and forest department as forester.
  • After completing the course students can join marketing or administration of plant related industries like pharmaceutical companies, seed companies, biotechnology firms and biological supply houses etc.
  • Botanist can also choose career in herbariums, botanical gardens and sanctuary.
  • Students who have interests in chemistry subject may become a plant physiologist, plant biochemist, molecular biologist or chemotaxonomies.
  • Students who had interests in cryptogams can also choose biotechnology, biochemistry, mycology, phycology.
